about

After years of ‘events’ getting in the way of art, Nick’s second album, ‘Flying Fish’ has finally breached water. Totally unlike his debut album in feel, most of these tracks are faster paced and bouncy, without falling into the ‘how quickly can I move my fingers?’ genre. This is an eclectic music mix which defies pigeon holing but covers a variety of styles. Monkey Bounce evokes township jazz; Edmundo Ros a Latino club; Mistral conjures up bowling along the Riviera in an open top sports car; Tsoigani might be Russian; Biddle Moor Waltz has a Cajun feel; Camlaan to Goose Green is pure English folk while Holmes Chapel Flyer is simply an express train. Picture a beech wood in autumn for the wonderful sound of Dead Leaves and as for the others, why not just listen? While you are at it, look out for a musical joke which only another guitarist will get.
