about

'Nick dreads the question ‘What type of music do you play?’
Technical answer: ‘Solo fingerstyle, (steel stringed) acoustic guitar instrumentals’.
‘But what about genre - Folk? Jazz? Blues? Classical?’
Well… not quite; more a harmonious, or occasionally discordant, fusion of them all.
With advancing maturity (well – in years anyway), Nick has grown out of the need to prove how many quavers he can cram into a couple of minutes and learned to appreciate the value of musical spaces, giving notes time to ring. This album mostly consists of slower paced, reflective pieces with a couple of short, bouncy tracks to keep you awake. All but one are his own compositions and are mostly inspired by his relationship with Ireland (home since 2003). The exception is his (slowed down) arrangement of ‘Merrily Kissed the Quaker’.
There is one 12 string piece which happens to be the title track. The rest are played on his beloved (6 string) Fylde Oberon.' - Val Dellar, Nick's long suffering wife.
